The anniversary party was held on the rooftop in a welcoming Hawaiian atmosphere. The aim, to hold onto summer a little longer, has been totally achieved by the guests who wore skirts, flower necklaces and “ananas glasses” with the most beautiful effect, while sipping their cocktails.
After the candles of the birthday cake were blown out, Itaï Cellier and Laura Proust welcomed the users of Polantis’ platform – ever-increasing numbers around the world- who contribute to the company’s success every day.
They also thought of Polantis’ partners: architectural agencies or design offices who are testing products, speakers at Prescription Thursday’s, supporters of the BIM Contest (Plan Transition Numérique dans le Bâtiment, Ordre des Architectes, UNSFA, Club BIM Prescrire, Sightline Group, HEXABIM, BTP.tv, Mediaconstruct, etc.)
Lastly Itaï Cellier and Laura Proust thanked the ever-increasing number of manufacturers and builders, without them Polantis would not be what it is today. A few years ago the usage of BIM was less widespread among the prescribers. So Polantis’ first clients were pioneers in their approach. Congratulations on their daring!
Besides the event was a great opportunity to unveil the new Polantis logo: Its colours are more sober and it has straighter and more structured lines which reflects the quality of the objects designed by architects and engineers in a better way.
The logo is the first of various projects the team was working on the whole summer. More surprises will be unveiled in the coming months.

The KALUBIM 3D catalogue contains 78 objects which cover the majority of Kawneer’s doors, windows and aluminium facade systems:
“Today, the prescribers expect simplicity, a summarized information which is easy to read, but also light BIM objects that won’t increase the size of the digital model. These objects have to be parametric, that means that their dimensions have to be adjustable to the real dimensions of the product”, explains Betrand Gasnier, Polantis’ Commercial Director.
In order to meet these requirements, KAWNEER and Polantis designed integrated BIM objects, all graphical and technical data for every solution are included in only one file. Three levels of displays enable the adjustment of the object’s graphical representation according to the requested level of detail (Level of Detail 100 to 300) without increasing the file’s size. Moreover, each BIM object includes not only the required technical information for calculation (dimensions, performances…), the links to the technical files, technical advice, special technical specifications and certifications, but also the contact of KAWNEER’s prescription team.
During the phase of development KAWNEER’s BIM objects have been tested by Polantis’ partner network of architectural agencies. Their positive feedback enabled the validation of the adopted method.
The entirety of KAWNEER’s BIM objects is downloadable for free in IFC, Revit or Archicad format on the platform for technical information devoted to professionals and prescribers www.kawneer-online.com as well as on the website www.polantis.com.
KAWNEER and Polantis, a long term business partnership
Beyond the design of BIM objects, KAWNEER chose Polantis for monitoring missions throughout their business partnership.
Polantis was committed to train KAWNEER’s sales teams in the BIM technology so that they can manage the prescriber’s requests by themselves.
“Lastly, doing business with Polantis, enables KAWNEER to get in contact with a large network of architects and users of this solutions”, concludes Bertrand Lafaye, KAWNEER’s Operational Marketing and Communication Director.
By choosing the leader of digital models, KAWNEER makes one of the largest BIM catalogues of the door and window market available for the prescribers and assures to respond to their expectations in an effective and concrete way.

Being a SME since 1952, Normaclo produces fences, panels, and sliding high-quality gates. The company works with manufactures, AEC experts, municipalities, landlords…
Through its collaboration with architects, Normaclo understood how important a fence within the architectural identity of a building is. The company registered patents and drawings at the INPI. Creator of the fence in bamboo, Normaclo developed specific products for the Project Owners.
At the Batimat salon in 2007, Normaclo introduced for the first time the fence OBAMBOO™. To convey the idea of the natural move of the bamboo, this grid has welded bars.
The enthusiasm of the architects and project managers for the fences is still growing. Therefore, Normaclo has decided to produce more objects, such as rotating and rolling portals.
Still to help the project owner and to ease the work of the architects, Normaclo released its CAD and BIM objects (native formats Revit, AutoCAD, Sketchup, and formats IFC).
A few categories were created to host these products on Polantis:
These Normaclo BIM objects were developed first among all the iconic objects produced by the company: OOBAMBOO, PRIMALIS, 5010…
Normaclo is about to expand its collection of BIM objects within this year. The architects are then going to be able to download these products:

Don’t lose track of the end customer : « Miss Martin »
Simon Moreau started with an observation: his work – that is BIM at Bouygues Immobilier – is above all targeted towards customers. In the end, those who will benefit from BIM advantages are the future landlords of the accomodations issued by Bouygues Immobilier.
Bouygues Immobilier BIM Initiative
With this in mind, the poperty developer has chosen to set the goal of carrying out 100% of his projects with the BIM working method by 2020.
Reminder, a project « carried out with the BIM method » implied – at first – the use of the same digital mock-up for the designers and the property developers.
The 2 main objectives of the BIM approach are:
To design better
Bouygues Immobilier BIM initiative is based on three « distinct bricks » : The project designers – Architects and BET – conceive it with a choice of modeling BIM software (no software is imposed by Bouygues Immobilier), the bimsync exchange platform is proposed to every actors of the project and deal with the use of all the information gathered in the digital mock-up(s) by the property developer.
About the bimsync exchange platform: Bouygues Immobilier staff chose it among 4 solutions with similar properties. Simon Moreau decided to promote the adoption of the solution for everyone by proposing to 50 collaborators its testing and its upstream approval. Bimsync is at the core of the initiative as the architects and the then engineers are encouraged to register their digital mock-ups as soon as possible during the designing.
In order to collaborate effectively on the digital mock-up as well as to collect exploitable datas, Bouygues Immobilier has made available a charter opened to everyone, click here to access it .
At any time, Simon Moreau staff propose their changes to the designers and can monitor the progress of the project as well as its consistency with their expectations.
Bouygues Immobilier staff take particularly heed of 3 aspects of the design:
Topics to expand on are:
Delivering innovative commercial media
The land developer wants potential buyers to be able to have a look at their property. The digital mock-up is the ideal support to organize virtual reality tours.
However, going from a digital mock-up to an actual flat is a heavy workload. Today, Bouygues Immobilier staff is working on the « industrialisation » of this initiative.
What about BIM objects?
Industrials attending the conference asked Simon Moreau about the use of « luxury » BIM objects in his BIM initiative. The answer: geometry is interesting, for example to measure a product dimension, but not necessary. Too many details affect the project as they weigh down on the digital mock-up. However, what is important is that industrials set a clear and standardized information and define each term clearly (works on PPBIM standard have been discussed during the presentation).
What’s the purpose? Manufacturers working in the same industry should make comparable datas available to conceptors with one click in order to ease the prescribed product choice.

The awards ceremony’movie is available:
Already the 3rd edition of the BIM Contest
For this 3rd edition, Polantis was joined by the city of Suresnes and by the INS HEA (Higher National Institute of Formation and of Research for the Education of Young Disabled persons) in order to bring about a reflection on an urban treasure from the 30’s: l’Ecole de Plein Air de Surenes (the open air School of Suresnes). This school is listed as a historic monument.
The candidates -architects and architecture students- had to create a numeric model of a middle school (of 500 students) located on a field close to the school, instead of where the INS HEA is now (since it is soon going to be relocated).

An innovative high added value PIM system
PIM (Product Information Management) is the process of gathering crucial data about a construction product or material. Every AEC manufacturer today has some level of PIM available.
Thanks to the innovative PIM Single Source Data Managment devised by Polantis and BIM & More manufacturers can now transmit their product data to all their specifiers in real-time without re-typing data and with no buffers.
How does it work?
Itaï Cellier, architect and CEO of Polantis, explains: “Today, thanks to the collaboration between Polantis and BIM & More, all our customers can get a real ‘Single Source’ system: they can change their products’ data through their own database (whether it is dealt by the Polantis cloud or by the customers). Meanwhile this change appears for all the prescribers through their Polantis plug-in.”
Thus, the AEC manufacturer is assured that with a single clic he can update all of its specifiers of any change in properties, performances, classifications etc of any of its commercialised products. The data flow from manufacturer to end user is uninterrupted. No intermediary agents, no need to copy data into an external cloud service, no delays. Itaï Celliers adds: “To my knowledge, we’re the only ones to propose such extensive PIM solution”
This new offer has a high importance, ensure that BIM models will constantly be up to date with the latest version of data coming directly from the manufacturers. The era of errors, omissions and outdated data on BIM models has come to an end.
Matthias Uhl, CEO and founder of BIM&More adds: “The natural cooperation between Polantis and BIM & More represents a huge improvement for our clients: A truly single-sourced BIM data management – Extremely time and cost efficient and above all – knowing that your objects are always up to date on your specifiers workstations.
This new breed of powerful BIM data management opens new horizons for AEC manufacturers and gives them a great competitive edge”

Lippi is a French manufacturer of inspiring exterior concepts. Since 1963 it designs and produces gates, fences, furniture as well as colourful and adaptable accessories to make the best use of the free space.
“Lippi, the free spirit“, that’s the story of Albert, Jacques, Bernard, Frédéric et Julien Lippi, three visionary generations consisting of different personalities who have all the save vision: To live happily together.
Lippi turned very quickly into a reference brand for delimitation. That’s because all eyes turned on it when Lippi designed the exterior of the “Stade de France” in 1999.
Julien and Frédéric Lippi, sons of Jacques Lippi, took over the company in 2008. They initiated huge changes in management and developed a corporate culture that is based on the freedom and responsibility of the individual.
Polantis and Lippi meet in 2017 to “bim” two new collections that are introduces by Lippi: the Stem universe and the Z universe, both dedicated to prescription and especially to the architects.
Polantis’ architects have been chosen to design Lippi’s BIM objects. What’s special about the products? No grid is as another and the rod’s sequencing as well as the portal’s colours can be configurated as needed.
Lippi set priority to “bim” these two new collection in order to facilitate their access to the architects and prescribers.
The manufacturer experienced a rising demand concerning its BIM objects.

On November 30th, some AEC professionals and manufacturers gathered at Polantis’ premises to attend a conference leaded by Rafik REMAL Architect, BIM consultant and manager of R-BIM. He is one of the pioneers of the BIM Management in France.
Aside from the BIM Management of the project CentraleSupelec of Rem Koolhaas (OMA) made in August 2017, Rafik has participated in some big projects such as the High Court of Paris by Renzo Piano (RPBW), in pre-coordination, or the International Airport of Geneva by Richard Rogers (RHSP).
He also helped for the implementation of the BIM process for some engineering societies, such as: Assystem EOS, ALTO Ingénierie, IGREC Ingéniérie, INGEROP. He is a Revit and BIM instructor in some engineering schools, such as ESITC in Caen and in Koweït, in partnership with the Académie de Paris with some local state organizations.
Since its establishment in 2010, R-BIM is a company dedicated to the BIM and new technologies within the construction area, offering these services to manufacturers and AEC professionals:
A few facts
Rafik REMAL states: “The BIM is not made to reinvent the construction jobs; the BIM is not an end purpose either. It is a management and organizational process used to deal with projects. This process first emerged to help AEC professionals, in order to optimize the methods, means and the quality of the production by relying on new technologies, on the numeric model, on some standards and collaborative process.
He also confirms: “Yes, the BIM changes the user’s habits, since the ways to conceive and to think a project are opposed to what was made before.” In conclusion, Rafik states: “The BIM implies a change for the architecture companies, concerning their production and their organization; and, as all the processes implying changes, it is not simple. It actually requires a serious planning, a real strategy, and some support from BIM experts to make sure the process will be lasting.”
The BIM Manager’s interests
According to Rafik, nowadays it is unavoidable to meet a “BIM Manager” since the implementation of the BIM on projects requires quite a lot of seriousness and method. Above all, people often don’t have a BIM expertise within their society; therefore, to get in a BIM project without knowing anything about it can sometimes be complicated.
The Ecole Centrale of Paris (CentraleSupélec)
After a detailed introduction of the project of the Ecole Centrale of Paris (CentraleSupelec), Rafik was able to talk about the different stakes faced in his job and his day-to-day life as a BIM expert.
The project, leaded by the OMA agency directed by Rem Koolhaas, is located on the plateau of Saclay at Gif-Sur-Yvette (91). It is a new program of 48 500 m² including classrooms, an auditorium, labs, a parkway, some offices, a restaurant, etc.
Rafik Remal has three missions regarding this project:
The digital model of the project: the question mark
After observing the different digital models, the participants asked Rafik a few questions.
Rafik explains the strategy of cutting and assembling the digital model of the project.
Example of cutting out the digital model: the digital model OMA is made of 04 distinct digital models: facades, structures, architecture and interior furniture.
Example of questions: is the BIM Manager supposed to give back one or many models to the builder? Who is going to synchronize the models?
Rafik answers: “There is no point in synchronizing all the digital models in a one and only “super-digital model”. Within a production software, such as Revit, the builder can easily get all the different models, with a file per model. This file can link all these models. The BIM Manager comes up with a global digital model within an aggregator such as Navisworks or Solibri Model Checker in order to coordinate, visualize or to control the quality.
Not to forget the first purpose of BIM
The builder’s ultimate goal is to get back all the information of the building as built, which will enable him to get a reliable and relevant database that supplies the tools on CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
Indeed, the BIM project enables to keep the data related to the work in one place (the digital model). The availability and organization of these data are criteria to make sure it is a long-term process.

Trespa International B.V. is a leading innovator in the field of architectural materials, recognised around the world as a premier developer of high quality panels for exterior cladding and decorative façades.
Since its founding in 1960, Trespa has worked closely with architects, designers, installers, distributors, raw material suppliers and end users. Trespa focuses its strategy on product development, combining quality-manufacturing technologies with intelligent solutions for architectural and scientific surface applications.
Christine Klomp, Compliance officer at Trespa explains: « We started the project with Polantis, after realizing that communication in a digital way is the future in the (building) industry. BIM is, of course, part of this process and allows us to take a next step in this way of communication.
We chose 3 systems as these are the most popular and commonly used systems in our portfolio. The most important for the systems was for Trespa to get all types of decors (colors) in the BIM library. This will enable the users of the files to create and generate the solutions they are looking for.
The Polantis team is a very professional team. They are very dedicated to the their work, therefore the communication and exchange of information went very well.
The next steps still have to be determinated. At this point Trespa is thinking about how to process.
